Titanium Security Arena (TSA) formally known as the Clipsal Powerhouse (1992-2002), Distinctive Homes Dome (2003-2009), Adelaide Dome (2009-2010) and Adelaide Arena (2010-2015) opened its door on 4th April 1992. Ground was broken in 1991 on the 8,000-seater venue which was to replace the Adelaide 36er’s Basketball team’s home, the Apollo Stadium. The Apollo, a 3,000-seater venue, had become too small to accommodate the Adelaide 36ers fans. TSA was and still remains Australia’s largest purpose-built basketball arena.
In spite of the venue’s versatility and ability to host a wide range of events, the South Australian Government imposed restrictions on the venue in 1992 precluding it from hosting music events and limiting the number of non-sporting events permitted at the arena. These restrictions were lifted in 2014 and TSA has since successfully hosted a number of music and other non-sporting events.
In 1993, the arena became the home of the Adelaide Lightning Basketball team and is the largest venue to host WNBL games.
